KEEPING THE MISPRINT
The ERROR HOODIE back panel was a press fault. We approved it and printed 350.
DROP 003 — AFTER HOURS — BACK PRINT ARTWORKLIGHT ON A SHUTTER
The first proof of the hoodie back panel came off the press with a 4mm registration offset — the same shape printed twice, slightly apart, the kind of fault that normally sends a run back.
It was better than the artwork. The doubled edge gave the block a depth the clean version did not have, and the offset direction implied a movement that the shape alone did not.
THE HARD PART
Reproducing a fault reliably is more difficult than avoiding it. A press wants to register correctly. Holding a deliberate 4mm offset across 350 pieces, within half a millimetre, took three strike-offs and a jig.
An accident you can repeat is a decision.
This is the clearest statement of what the label is for. The things that look like mistakes, leftovers or visual noise often contain the strongest stories — but only if you are disciplined enough to keep them on purpose.
